A friend of mine related this story. I’ve known him for quite some time and he does come up with an unbelievable story off and on. However he swore that this story was real. Apparently he was feeling lucky and he bought a lottery ticket while he was in England and had a really good feeling about it. So he safely tucked the ticket away in his shirt pocket and watched the night’s draw on TV. According to him, he had the winning ticket. He couldn’t believe it. He had thought that he was hallucinating after a pint or two of British beer and decided to sleep on it. Supposing the ticket was a winner he wanted it to be safe and therefore carefully placed it inside the microwave oven in his apartment. This way he would not misplace it (Microwave oven? I know…). In the morning he’d woken up, taken out some leftovers from the fridge and put the dish in the microwave. He opened the door and took out the dish to find a piece of burnt paper stuck to the bottom. It was only then that he remembered that he had the winning ticket and he’d burnt it. Funniest part is that the newspapers had said that there was a winning ticket. I don't know if someone else had the winning ticket and is now sunning him/herself in Fiji, or if my friend actually burnt a lottery ticket that would have gotten him millions of dollars.
